England might be out of the Cricket World Cup,
but we're celebrating a big-hitting six after Vodafone life!, a
global employee magazine written and designed by Item for the world's
leading mobile telecommunications company, received an industry
award for the sixth year in a row.
The highly decorated publication
has secured an Award of Excellence in the 'multilingual publications'
category of the 2007 Communicators in Business (CiB) awards.
The
judges said: 'This publication is fun, creative, professional and
full of energy…there are many nice original touches…a
great deal of thought and planning has gone in to the creation
of this publication…it's not surprising to see such glowing
feedback from your readership survey – you're doing a great
job'.
Meanwhile, a Welcome to Vodafone Global Orientation
Pack received an award in the same hotly-contested category. The
judges called it 'an inspiring and stunning production', adding
'I defy anybody reading this not to want to work for this company'.
But that's not all.
Hi!, produced for global
oil, energy and aluminium company Hydro, won an Award of Excellence
in the ever-competitive 'magazines published more than six times
a year' category.
Last year, Hi! - written, designed and produced
by Item and a Hydro team in Oslo – became the first internal publication to hold
top UK and European awards at the same time. Comments from the
CiB judges included: 'It says something for a magazine if its articles
are so interesting they tempt a busy judge to read them in depth,
but that's what Hi!'s series of stress-related work-life balance
stories did for me…the series is one of many highlights
in a publication that has no lows'.
Final class winners will be
announced at a gala awards dinner in Newcastle on 25 May.
