Item director Suzanne Peck was voted in as Chairman
of Communicators in Business (CiB) at their Annual Conference in
Bournemouth this month.
Taking the reins from outgoing chairman Nick
Andrews, Suzanne set out her priorities:
“CIB have got three things on their mind
this year. First, we want to extend our offering, so that communicators
from entry level to career pinnacle have something to gain from
our organisation. Second, we want to raise the profile of internal
communications and to highlight the increasing evidence that effective
employee communications is critical to an organisation’s
success. Finally, we want to take the first steps towards our long
term aim of becoming the Institute of Internal Communications.
It will be an exciting year!”
Suzanne has been a member of Communicators in
Business since 1987, serving on the education, awards and conference
committees as well as National Council over the years. She was
chairman of the conference committee for three years and the awards
committee for two, managing the association’s annual flagship
events, the national conference and awards.
Suzanne’s business experience spans the
strategy and delivery of internal communications for blue-chip
organisations. An award-winning editor, writer and NCTJ-trained
journalist, Suzanne can count Marks & Spencer, Alfred McAlpine
Shell, Costain, BOC and GlaxoSmithKline among her employers and
clients.
Suzanne has been a board director at the Item
Group since March 2005 and is the firm’s second CiB chairman
in the last four years. Item Managing Director Alison Crossley
was National Chairman of the association in 2002/3.
