Item designer Debs Mansfield and writer Julia
Lloyd recently spent an evening helping students plan an advertising
campaign to sell plants.
They were participating in a creative workshop
run by Envision, a charity which Item works with as part of its
Corporate Social Responsibility policy.
Envision helps 16 to 18 year-olds in schools
and colleges develop their own social and environmental projects.
Called ‘Getting Your Message Across - Visual
Campaign Design’, the recent workshop, part of Envision’s
Annual Event, taught the basics of preparing a creative campaign.
Attendees were divided into groups and asked
to sell the miraculous, environmentally-cleansing properties of
the household plant.
To keep them on the right tracks Debs and Julia
each sat with a group and offered guidance where needed.
Debs says: “It
was great to see so much enthusiasm from the students. With a
bit of support from us they came up with some very interesting
ideas. We were delighted to be able to help out.
“Taking part in this event was one of the
first steps in our Corporate Social Responsibility policy, so we’re
very pleased the evening was so successful.”
