Arts Council England has won a CiB Award of Excellence for its new intranet, One Place. Item Group writes daily news stories for the site.
The intranet was launched in November 07 and as well as functions such as the daily news, an image bank and an organisation-wide calendar, any of the 800 staff can contribute to the site. Collaborative workspaces and an online staff directory and skills bank were launched in March 2007.
One Place replaced the old intranet and five regional intranet sites that had resulted in fragmented communication of content within the organisation.
The new intranet aims to provide an online, accessible and enjoyable internal communications resource so that staff across the 10 regional offices and national office feels part of one organisation.
The judge commented that the site was well structured and benefits from a high standard of visual design. ‘The overall impression is of an attractive, easy-to-use and highly functional site that succeeds in engaging people in the work of the organisation.’
Head of Internal Communications, Shiona Hastie, says: ‘I’m delighted that all our research and hard work in creating a useful internal comms tool for staff has been recognised by the CiB.’
The announcement of the class winner will be made at the CiB Awards dinner in Brighton on 23 May.
