Arts Council England works to get more art to more people in more places. It develops and promotes the arts across England, acting as an independent body. Between 2006 and 2008, it will invest £1.1 billion of public money from government and the National Lottery in supporting the arts. Item researches and writes weekly news content for the intranet and supports other strategic communications projects.

Founded in 1958, Barratt has grown to become one of Britain’s best-known housebuilders and has a network of more than 30 divisions throughout the UK. Barratt recently announced its acquisition of fellow housebuilder and property developer, Wilson Bowden plc. We are working with Barratt on integrated internal communications for the new business.

British Sky Broadcasting is the operator of the UK's largest digital pay television platform, a leading broadcaster of sports, movies, entertainment and news, and a key player in broadband, internet and telecommunications services. More than 8 million customers – equivalent to almost one in three households in the UK and Ireland – subscribe to Sky digital. We support internal communication teams with online writing and design for a number of audience-specific ezines, executive interviews and writing training.

Cogent is an independent, employer-led organisation which aims to improve productivity and business performance through skills development for the Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Oil and Gas, Nuclear, Petroleum and Polymer Industries. We write, design and produce a quarterly magazine for employers and stakeholders across the Cogent industries.

The Co-operative Group, headquartered in Manchester, is a family of businesses spanning food retailers, pharmacies, finance, funerals and travel that share the same co-operative way of doing things, offering excellent service, selling products in a fair and honest way, and being committed to supporting communities on its doorstep and beyond. We design and produce the 48-page bi-monthly employee magazine.

FremantleMedia is one of the largest international creators and producers of entertainment brands in the world, with leading drama, entertainment and factual programming in over 40 territories. This includes The X Factor, Pop Idol, The Apprentice, and Neighbours. We write, design and produce its bi-monthly global employee magazine, one version for print and the other in an online format.

Norwegian company Hydro is a Fortune 500 energy and aluminium supplier operating in nearly 40 countries. A leading offshore producer of oil and gas, it’s the world’s third largest aluminium supplier and a leader in the development of renewable energy resources. We work with Hydro’s Oslo-based team to write and design a multi-language magazine for 33,000 employees worldwide.

The Learning and Skills Council (LSC) exists to improve the skills of England’s young people and adults to ensure that the workforce is of world-class standard. It is responsible for planning and funding high-quality education and training for everyone in England. We write, design and produce a quarterly stakeholder magazine for LSC London Region and support other communication deliverables such as printed reports and case studies.

National Grid is one of the largest investor-owned energy companies in the world, playing a vital role in delivering gas and electricity to millions of people across the UK and northeastern US. Item works with internal teams in both countries to write, design and produce a bi-monthly company-wide print and online magazine, with separate publications for each line of the five lines of business. In early 2008 we also created a consistent branding for National Grid's suite of internal communications channels.

Ofsted inspects and regulates to achieve excellence in the care of children and young people, and in education and skills for learners of all ages. The new Ofsted brings together the wide experience of four inspectorates to make a greater difference for every child, young person and adult learner in England. We design the internal magazine for all employees.

Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Trust is the largest centre for the treatment of heart and lung conditions in the UK. Its two hospitals are international leaders in the investigation, treatment and care of people with heart and lung disease. We worked with the internal team to produce an annual review and a flagship research and development brochure.

SELEX Sensors and Airborne Systems S&AS UK is the UK’s largest supplier of electronic systems for military platforms in the air, at sea and on land. We write, design and produce a monthly internal magazine for its 4,000 employees and work with the commercial & procurement function to produce a regular newsletter.

Skandia is a leading provider of long-term savings products with a range of innovative solutions for pensions, investments and protection. Skandia UK & Offshore is part of the Skandia Group, itself owned by Old Mutual plc. We write and design a monthly newsletter for around 2,000 employees.

Smith & Nephew is a FTSE 100 company that develops and markets advanced medical devices that help healthcare professionals treat patients more effectively. Item writes, designs and produces two magazines: one for all 8,500 employees worldwide and one for the Advanced Wound Management Global Business Unit. Both are translated into languages including French, German, Spanish and Japanese for employees to read in print and/or pdf format.

Thales UK’s Aerospace Division provides high-quality prime contractor and systems integrator services, and innovative equipment, sub-systems, systems and high-value-added services for civil and military markets. We designed and produced the firm’s first employee annual review and write and design regular audience-specific ezines.

Unilever is dedicated to meeting everyday needs for nutrition, hygiene and personal care with brands that help people feel good, look good and get more out of life. We write and design a bi-monthly magazine for the company’s Home and Personal Care Research & Development facility at Port Sunlight, near Liverpool.

Vodafone is the world’s leading mobile telecommunications company, with 200 million customers across five continents. We research, write, design and translate its award-winning global employee magazine, write intranet content and support Vodafone’s internal communication teams with electronic and print deliverables ranging from global induction to change management.

Wincanton is a European leader in the design and delivery of advanced supply chain solutions. Its 30,000 employees operate throughout Europe in every stage of the supply chain process, from raw materials to recycling.
